Day 2: Trip to Kythira

*Breakfast at Princess Kyniska early in the morning, leaving from the hotel at 08:45am to Neapoli as you need to catch the boat ‘Porfirousa’ at 10:00am to Kythira. Your journey will take around 1 hour and 15 minutes. You will reach the village of Diakofti, where the port is.
There you will get the first idea of the simplicity and unique beauty of the island. Kythira is known by the oldest Venetian name "Tsirigo" and according to mythology this was the island of Aphrodite and Eros.
From there you will go towards ‘Mili’ and ‘Mylopotamos’, located west of the island. Going down the valley of Mylopotamos among the perennial plane trees, the bushes and the rocks and you will find the amazing waterfall of the Fairy, ending in a river that was initiating all the mills in the region. Today, five of the 25 are rescued.
Those who do not continue, we recommend you visit the Castle of Kato Chora, located in Mylopotamos. It is a castle which was built to protect the inhabitants from pirates. Until the 50s were habitable and you will see many homes and nine churches. The view of the sunset from there is considered the most beautiful of Kythira.
*At 14:00pm you will rest and savor local cuisine at one of the taverns of Mylopotamos.
*Around 15:00pm we recommend visiting the Cave of St. Sophia (located in the same area), a gem for the island. Aged 4 million years old. The cave is 2,500 sq.m. and 500m. but you can only visit 220m. At the entrance you will see frescoes dedicated to St. Sophi and inside you will see a small chapel. The cave has 10 rooms with stalagmites and stalactites and the average temperature is around 17 degrees, so it would be a good idea to have an overcoat with you. The cave is associated with various myths as that it was the love nest of Paris and Helen, during their stay on the island, or that pirate Barbarossa has hidden his treasures there.
* Having made the trip around the island, at 17:00pm, you have to be in the village of Diakofti, to get the ship back home.
* You will be back at the hotel around 19:30pm, having spent an eventful day we suggest you indulge in a relaxing body massage by our specialized Spa therapist.
*The evening will end at Princess Kyniska restaurant where you will enjoy a lovely dinner under the moonlight.
